Plot: Jean (Gad Elmaleh), a shy young bartender, is mistaken for a millionaire by a beautiful, scheming opportunist named Irene (Audrey Tautou). When Irene discovers his true identity, she abandons him, only to find that a love-struck Jean has no intention of letting her get away. Jean's comical attempts to gain her affections gradually evolve into setting himself up as a gigolo at a luxury hotel, until Irene finally starts to warm to her persistent, persuasive suitor. Against the wildly atmospheric backdrop of the south of France, Pierre Salvadori (APRES VOUS) directs this sexy and thoroughly charming romantic comedy, which is a fresh re-imagining of the cinema classic, BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S.

My favourite French film.

Lets not kill the flavour of this film by calling it "Romantic/Comedy" - Ugh...what a boring and cheesy classification that is.

I hated Amelie. Audrey Tautou in this film is a seemingly harmless woman who's actually a sedcutress. She's sultry, lacks grace, wears daunting plunging dresses without being too top heavy, she runs, she makes you heart skip a beat and she has a fan in the actor. The lead actor is another planet altogether. He has the gaze of Adrien Brody with a more perfect nose and a broomed haircut and the swagger of someone who's dying to find a purpose.

The film wins with the humor and it doesn't take it's humor too seriously. The characters never seem to fuss over any situation and this film has more energy than any fairy tale I've seen in a long while.

France looks beautiful. The wine sits pretty, cigars look inviting and every couch looks about as comfortable as they come. Overall from the sunrise to sunset, everyything is about this film has an achingly beautiful mechanism to it.

I fell in love with Priceless. Two thumbs to French cinema. I'm going to talk about this film for many months.

This was a Netflix reommendation...This film was recommended to me by "Netflix" because I liked "Death at a funeral."

Great foreign film for beginners
Added 11/23/2009

Even with its subtitles it's incredibly easy to follow for beginners to the French film scene. A great film that I can (and do) watch over and over. No real lulls within the story, it keeps you engaged all the way through. Quickly made it to the top of my list after watching in the theater and went out and purchased it the day it was released on DVD!

Money isn't the answer.

It was a nice little movie, but it was in French. It would of been a lot better if
it was in English.
