I think this movie was fantastic. And the story itself is brilliant (kudos Ms Ahern). It is about a woman dealing with the death of her beloved husband. However, she deals with it in a unique way...via letters from him. The charm and mystery of the movie is watching her heal, move on, and wondering how she is getting the letters. Hillary Swank and Gerard Butler are terrific. I would also highly recommend buying the book. There is more detail and some differences.....even better than the movie and I gave the movie five stars!

Surprise

I originally rented this movie thinking it was a light romantic comedy to watch alone one evening. WRONG! If that is what you are looking for, do not watch this movie. I do not particularly care for sappy movies such as The Notebook, Titanic, etc. This was not sappy, it was heart wrenching. That being said, it was a very moving movie. There were some laughs, but not a comedy. Beautiful scenery, beautiful people, beautiful story.

Great Movie~

I am a little biased on this film as my wife introduced it to me and it has kind of been our movie since. She is definitely the pragmatic one and she considers me her happy Irish singing guy, even though I am Scottish. Anyway, the movie is great and has a little something for everyone. It is both funny, charming and touching. I highly recommend it.

Worth it

I had mixed feelings about this movie.. at times I almost abandoned watching it - wasn't sure where it was going early on.. but stick with it. It is well done - a look at raw emotions going through the grieving process. Not so intense that it wears you out - and in the end everyone comes out in the sunshine. Worth the watch!
