Resurrection DVD

This is one of my favorite all time movies. I had never been able to find it anywhere, for either rental or purchase. I was so excited to find it on Amazon. I wasted no time in ordering it and they wasted no time in getting it to me. :)

Burstyn amazing

A combination of Inspirational tome and Romance novel. Burstyn plays a free spirit...whose spirit has been set free after a "near death experience" - a wonderous series of scenes.
She emerges as Healer...though not exactly as *Faith Healer*. Her first act takes place back in the country - he loses her husband in a fatal car crash, and returns to her childhood home...and all the trauma she left - a fire and brimstone Father and a far more intelligent and understanding Grandmother.
She is tempted by the son of a "Bible thumping" Pastor, who is torn by his Faith ...and his desires. (Sam Shepard). Both move in and out of the world of the flesh and the world of the spirit.
A great script and cinematography sustain but are mere support for the "tour de force" performance of EB. SS is also excellent but most of the supporting cast overacts - perhaps intentional, in the often dream-like scenes.
Unfortunately, much of the story is not beleivable - is she fully transformed by her experience? Why hop in the sack with this mixed up (albeit "hunky") dude? Did she think she could heal herself of VD? Not to give up too much of the movie, but a big question arises: why would she not seek to communicate with her departed Husband? One might expect the character to "live on", in the movie.
In total, a movie to be appreciated in repeated viewings. Is a true "cult" candidate, even with a few misteps, along the way.

My wife & I loved this show but for some reason Netflix dose not carry it. Much better than the newer remake. Ellen Burstyn is great in this version. No problems with the DVD quality or delivery.

A True Hollywood Classic

If your a buff for 70's classics this long awaited title on DVD is one for your collection! Only reason I didn't give it five stars is because they didn't put much into the DVD itself. There are no special features, or cast interviews, only the trailer and it is not remasterd, however, the picture quality is excellent anyway.

Resurrection - No Problems With DVD

The movie is great - even all these years later. I watched it on my Sony DVD player, which is at least 5 years old. I was a little concerned that there might be a viewing problem because of the DVD format, but there was no problem with the picture or sound. The movie plays as widescreen, which is what I prefer. There are no special features, but this movie is so good that you don't need them.
