Shawn Levy Acquires Masculinity Guide, MAN MADE Jake Kasdan to Direct

Shawn Levy (Real Steel) has daddy issues or, at least, the protagonist of his next project does.  In a recent  acquisition by Fox 2000 and Levy's company, 21 Laps Entertainment, author Joel Stein's upcoming book, "Man Made: A Stupid Quest for Masculinity," has been set up for production.  The story is a non-fiction account of a man's journey to discover his masculinity in reaction to learning that he's about to have a baby boy.  His journey takes him on a 24-hour shift with L.A. firefighters, basic training sessions with the  US Marine Corps and even into the octagon with UFC fighter, Randy Couture (The Expendables).   Though Levy is on board to produce, director Jake Kasdan (Bad Teacher) will be behind the camera for Man Made.  Hit the jump for more. Jake Kasdan May Be Man Made

For a new parenting comedy Now that hes tackled education in his most recent job, Bad Teacher , it would seem that Jake Kasdan wants to look at the other vital element in kids lives: parents. Hes currently negotiating to tackle an adaptation of Joel Steins book Man Made . The tome, which doesnt hit bookstores until May, focuses on Steins worries when he welcomes a son into the world. Concerned that hes not enough of a man to be a good role model for the new spawn, he sets out on a quest to rediscover his masculinity. It sounds like a Nick Hornby / Tony Parsons novel, but its actually based on the comedy columnists efforts to test himself, including going through Marine training and taking on an MMA fighter. Jake Kasdan To Make A Sex Tape

With Jason Segel. Not like that! It would seem that Nick Stollers busy schedule means good news for Bad Teacher director Jake Kasdan, as hes now in negotiations to take over megaphone duties for Jason Segels new comedy Sex Tape . Back in October, it was reported that Reese Witherspoon was in the running to co-star with Segel as a married couple who get the night off from looking after their kids and decide to spice things up a little by making a tape of their sexy time. Sadly for them, they wake up the next morning to find that someone has swiped the recording, leading to a desperate search to get it back. Jake Kasdan to Make a SEX TAPE with Jason Segel

Bad Teacher director Jake Kasdan is in talks to re-team with Jason Segel for the high-concept comedy Sex Tape.  Per Variety, Segel will star "as half of a happily married couple who use a night off from their parental duties to spice up their love life by making a sex tape. When they awake the following morning, they discover the tape has gone missing, prompting them to figure out who took it and how to get it back."  Nicholas Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) was previously attached to direct, but dropped out due to scheduling issues.  Last October, Reese Witherspoon, Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, Rose Byrne, and Jennifer Garner were in the mix to play the female lead, but there's currently no word on which actresses (if any) are still circling the role.
