Director Jonathan Liebesman Talks WRATH OF THE TITANS, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, His Julius Caesar Movie, ODYSSEUS, and More

Opening tomorrow is director Jonathan Liebesman’s (Battle: Los Angeles) Wrath of the Titans.  In the sequel to Clash of the Titans, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is tasked with stopping the titans and saving Zeus (Liam Neeson) from Hades’ stranglehold (Ralph Fiennes). The film also stars Rosamund Pike, Bill Nighy, Edgar Ramirez, Toby Kebbell and Danny Huston.  And for those wondering how the sequel turned out, Wrath of the Titans is what I hoped Clash of the Titans would be.  It’s got a solid story, incredible effects, and the 3D is really well done.  I’ve seen it twice (including IMAX 3D) and it’s definitely recommended.  For more on the film, here’s five clips. At last week's press junket in New York City, I got to sit down with Liebesman for an extended interview.  During our wide-ranging conversation we talked about how he got involved in Wrath of the Titans, his process for addressi (Read More)

Wrath Of The Titans review

Can Wrath Of The Titans better Clash Of The Titans? Here's Duncan's review... Expectation can be a terrible thing. Certainly in the case of the Clash Of The Titans remake, there was great concern from many people, including myself, about how things such as the artistry of Ray Harryhausen could be replaced by CGI. Or how the film ever hoped to capture the sense of wonder and excitement that a film made nearly three decades before had managed to maintain. Certainly 2010s Clash had the elements in place to have me onside &ndash a solid director whod injected some heart into The Incredible Hulk and had a solid action background, as well as a sterling cast headed up by the mighty Liam Neeson, a man whos seldom made a film I havent loved. Sadly the result was a flat, below average yarn with substandard effects and appalling 3D, that left many of us with no real interes (Read More)

5 Clips from WRATH OF THE TITANS Starring Sam Worthington and Liam Neeson

We’ve been provided with five clips from the upcoming sequel Wrath of the Titans to share with you today. Jonathan Liebesman (Battle: Los Angeles) takes over the director’s chair this time around and takes a more practical approach to the effects than Clash of the Titans.  The film finds Perseus (Sam Worthington) tasked with stopping the titans and saving Zeus (Liam Neeson) from Hades’ stranglehold (Ralph Fiennes).  Though Clash wasn’t exactly warmly received, Worthington has stated that he feels they did things right this time around. After seeing the film the other night, I agree.  Wrath of the Titans is what I hoped Clash of the Titans would be.  Trust me, the sequel is a vast improvement and a really good fantasy movie. Hit the jump to watch the clips and look for exclusive video interviews with the cast and director Jonathan Liebesman next week .  The film also stars Rosamund Pike (Read More)

What Michael Bay has in store for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Changes are afoot, as the first details of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie are revealed... Last week wasnt a bad one for fans of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. After all, Paramount confirmed that it was pressing ahead with a live action/CG hybrid movie, that it was going to spend $100m to make it, and that it was set for release at the end of 2013. The film is being produced by Platinum Dunes, the Michael Bay co-owned production company thats been mainly dealing with horror remakes to this point. Thats led to some suspicion from people, curious what Platinum Dunes take on the Turtles material would be. Turns out, weve now got an idea. Michael Bay was chatting last week at the Nickelodeon Upfront event, and he specifically addressed the plan for the Turtles. He told the assembled crowd in New York that When you see this movie, kids are going to believe, o (Read More)
