The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it's too late.

Princess Merida mercs bare bear Watching the first 30 minutes of Brave in its unfinished form last month, Empire couldn't help spotting a slight shift in tone in Pixar's first foray into the traditional Disney territory of big castles and embattled princesses. Will these beautiful new still of Princess Merida in action shine more light on things? Humour and heroism were both abundant in the scenes we laid eyes on, but there also seemed to be a more earnest tack taken to the growing pains of younglings. It leads us to wonder whether Pixar's lastest incredible creation won't suffer something even more painful than the claws of a giant bear along the way. Disney-Pixar has released two new images from Brave. While the trailers have played up heroine Merida's prowess with a bow, these images show she's got nothing against swinging a sword. Also, if you've been wondering the significance of the bear in this image, keep in mind that the original title for Brave was The Bear and the Bow. I don't know how the bear factors into the plot (the trailers haven't given it away), but I look forward to finding out. Hit the jump to check out the images. The first round of the NFL Draft kicks off tonight, and while fans across the country are busy prognosticating/praying, Disney is capitalizing on the excitement with an NFL Draft-inspired TV spot for the upcoming Pixar flick Brave. It’s actually a pretty smart product integration, as it’s been obvious from the previous trailers that the Mouse House has been trying hard to lure the male crowd to the female-centered movie. It’s a bit ridiculous to think that young males won’t go to a movie just because a female is the main character, and we’ve learned from The Hunger Games that strong, independent female protagonists are an enormous draw when done well. Nevertheless, this spot does have some fun jokes and is packed with NFL-related references. Also, somewhat surprisingly, there’s a pretty racy gag involving a certain female body part. The full trailer for Pixar's Brave has gone online along with a new clip. The past trailers have tried to blend the comic and dramatic sides of the film, and done so with varying levels of success. The latest trailer puts up a clear wall between the two, showing off the amusing antics of the protagonist Princess Merida's family (I love her father's impression of his daughter) and then making a jarring, abrupt cut to the dramatic, mystical side of the adventure where Merida makes a wish to change her fate of being married off to another clan and losing her freedom. The first half of the trailer made laugh, and the second half gave me chills (I love the use of Julie Fowlis' "Tha Mo Ghaol Air Aird A’ Chuain"), but I'm still looking for the connective tissue that will bring the two tones together. Pixar brings another slice of beautiful Give your eyeballs a bath right now with the latest trailer for Pixar's Brave , the medieval-ish, Scottish-tinged* tale of one young girl's quest not to give up archery and marry a drip. Well, that's our interpretation anyway. This third full trailer gives a better flavour than before of the family dramas that bedevil our heroine, Merida (Kelly MacDonald), who's under pressure to marry the son of one of the three local Lairds (Kevin McKidd, Craig Ferguson, Robbie Coltrane) as befits the daughter of King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). Here, the family conflict is clearer, and there's more humour from Merida's mischevious little brothers.
