After repeatedly trying to enlist in the military to do his part and fight alongside his brothers and sisters in the Allied Forces, the young and scrappy 98 pound Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) is accepted to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super-Soldier known as Captain America. In his muscular new incarnation, Captain America joins forces with his friend Bucky Barnes (SEBASTIAN STAN) and the confident Peggy Carter (HAYLEY ATWELL), under the command of Colonel Chester Phillips (TOMMY LEE JONES), to wage war on the evil HYDRA organization-the Nazi's deep science division-led by the villainous Red Skull (HUGO WEAVING). "Captain America: The First Avenger" focuses on the early days of the Marvel Universe-later populated with such super heroes as Iron Man, the Hulk and Thor...When wars were fought with weapons, but won by men.

New Clip from THE AVENGERS Featuring Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders

The second clip from The Avengers has gone online.  The clip features Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) arguing over the Tesseract (the glowing cube from Captain America: The First Avenger) and the "Phase-2 Prototypes", whatever those are.  It's not the action-packed, quippy stuff of the previously released clip, but it's still nice to see the fine, non-superhero folks at S.H.I.E.L.D. getting down to brass, Phase-2 Prototype tacks. Hit the jump to check out the clip, and click here for ten desktop wallpapers for the movie.  The film also stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, and Clark Gregg.  The Avengers opens in 3D on May 4th. Dominic Cooper Joins Colin Farrell in Action Thriller DEAD MAN DOWN

After briefly flirting with the revenge thriller Motor City, actor Dominic Cooper is now set to join Colin Farrell and Noomi Rapace in the actioner Dead Man Down.  The revenge tale stars Farrell as a mobster’s hitman bent on revenge and Rapace as “a mysterious, scarred beauty” who has intimate knowledge of Farrell’s past.  Variety reports that Cooper is in talks to play a family man who works as Farrell’s partner. Niels Arden Oplev, who directed Rapace in the Swedish iteration of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, is onboard to helm the pic with Neal Moritz (Fast and Furious franchise) producing. Cooper earned notice for his starring turn in last year’s The Devil’s Double, and also appeared in Captain America: The First Avenger and My Week with Marilyn.  He’ll next be seen in the historical documentary Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, which opens this summer. Production on Dead Man Down begins later this month.

It doesn't try too hard for irony or style the comic-book sensibility remains pure, square, and happily stupid.
