Chloe Moretz talks Carrie remake

Recently confirmed in the lead role, Chloe Moretz has been discussing the remake of Carrie. After being hinted at for a while, those behind the remake of Carrie seem to be wasting no time in getting the project ready for its scheduled release of 15th March 2013. Chloe Moretz has been confirmed to star in the title role and Julianne Moore has been offered the role of her mother. And with production set to get underway shortly, Moretz has been sharing her thoughts on the film: "I start that June 1st, it's going to be very well done. I don't want to jinx it, but Kimberley Peirce is a genius, genius, genius director. I would never do it with someone that I don't trust. I trust her more than a lot of the directors I've worked with. She's the right woman for the job." "I'm actually not looking at the original, even though De Palma's movie was one of the best movies ever mad (Read More)

Julianne Moore Circling Role of Carrie’s Crazy Mother in Stephen King Remake

I was skeptical about Chloë Grace Moretz being cast in the remake of Stephen King’s Carrie, but this news more than makes up for it: Julianne Moore is in talks to play her crazed religious mother. If this happens, I will officially sing nothing but praises for this project until the last credit rolls. The newest entrant into the world of self-publishing is “Transformers” actor Shia LaBeouf, who appeared at a recent Chicago comics convention to sell booklets filled with his own writings and drawings (I hate to use the word “comics” to describe what I’m looking at here). As the author of this article points out, the greatest crime is that LaBeouf was asking twenty bucks apiece for this stuff. For that much you could get an entire tome of exquisite Lynda Barry comics. Or even just, like, ten scratch-off lottery tickets. Titanic-sized emergencies still happen — in Tina Fey’s book Bossypants (Read More)

Julianne Moore in Talks to Mother Chloe Moretz in ‘Carrie’ Remake

Back when it was announced that Chloe Moretz would be the new girl getting laughed at it Kimberly Peirce’s upcoming remake of the horror classic Carrie, it was also rumored that the director had a couple of names in mind for Carrie’s overbearing, fundamentalist mother. According to word on the street, either Jodie Foster or Julianne Moore were the top choices. Of course, word on the street isn’t always very reliable, so that was news to be taken with a grain of salt. In this case, however, the gossip-mongers seem to have been spot on. Bloody Disgusting is now reporting that things have progressed with Moore to the point where she’s in serious talks to take the role. If things work out and Moore comes on board, she’s going to have some pretty big shoes to fill. Piper Laurie already portrayed the mother character very memorably in the Brian De Palma-directed Carrie, to the point where s (Read More)

Julianne Moore in Talks to Take Mother Role in CARRIE Remake

Now that Chloe Moretz is set as the titular telekinesis teen (alliteration!), it looks as if Columbia Pictures is closing in on the actress who will play the psycho mother in their remake of Carrie.  We previously heard that Julianne Moore and Jodi Foster were being eyed for the unstable mother role in the update, and now Bloody Disgusting reports that Columbia is “speaking closely” with Moore about taking on the role.  Though she’s been doing stellar work for years, the actress is currently fielding a number of offers following her spellbinding turn as Sarah Palin in the HBO film Game Change. Boys Don’t Cry helmer Kimberly Peirce is onboard to helm this adaptation of Carrie, which is said to be closer to Stephen King’s source material than the 1976 film starring Sissy Spacek.  Moore hasn’t yet officially signed on to the project, but I think she’s pitch perfect casting and it would be (Read More)
