Description: In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds). Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax...he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

The big blockbusters of summer 2013

As The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises get set to do battle in the summer of 2012, what blockbusters are lining up for the summer of 2013…? 2012 marks, arguably, the biggest blockbuster showdown in recent years, with three major comic book franchises all going head to head. 2013 is a bit quieter in that regard, with just Superman and Iron Man, both with enough space to make a mark of their own. In fact, the trend at the moment for summer blockbuster season 2013 is the end of the world to some degree. Thats along with the usual range of sequels, franchises and remakes. Heres whats currently in store, with dates based on US planned release at the time of writing&hellip April 26th OBLIVION Blockbuster season 2013 kicks off not with a Marvel project, as has been the case the past few years, but with a Tom Cruise movie. Martin Campbell Will Make The Dive

Taking over James Cameron's project James Cameron has long harboured the desire to direct The Dive , the true, tragic love story of married free divers Francisco Pippin Ferraras and Audrey Mestre. But though hes clung to the idea for more than six years, it would appear that making the Avatar sequels has finally gotten in the way and hes handed the Dive snorkle over to Martin Campbell. Ferraras and Mestre were pre-eminent in their chosen sport, a risky activity that involves diving down to great depths without equipment. Mestre sadly died in 2002 attempting to better her world record of 427 feet. Noted underwater enthusiast Cameron took an active interest in the story, even going so far as to film Ferraras from a submersible as he made tribute dive in her memory, heading down to the depth that cost her life. While the Titanic director originally hired Battle Angel co-w (Read More)

Martin Campbell to Direct THE DIVE

20th Century Fox has set Casino Royale director Martin Campbell to helm the diving story The Dive. The film was previously set up as a directing vehicle for James Cameron (that guy really loves water), but he’s a bit busy with two sequels to Avatar and an actual diving project of his own. The film tells the tragic true story of freediver Francisco “Pipin” Ferraras and his wife Audrey Mestre. Freediving is the insane sport of diving without any artificial oxygen whatsoever you take a deep breath and start swimming. Mestre died during an attempt to better her world record of 557.7 feet. Deadline reports that Campbell is attached to direct with J. Michael Straczynski (Changeling) tapped to write the script. While Green Lantern was a pretty substantial misfire, I’m still a big fan of Campbell’s work and I think he’s a good fit for The Dive. He recently directed the ABC pilot The Last Reso (Read More)

105 movie sequels currently in the works

Hollywood loves its sequels, and we’ve got the proof here. Meet the 105 sequels at various stages of production, and a further 17 that seem to have died. Its been nearly five years since we started doing our annual round-ups of the current movie sequels that are in the works, and this year marks the longest list of all. Furthermore, what the 105 we've rounded up here doesnt include are the projects that we suspect might have been lost to development hell, which weve detailed down at the bottom. Hollywood does love its follow-ups. The projects that we do talk about here each have some chance of happening, and weve done a release date cut off of films due after October 2012 at the earliest. Thus, this summers collection of sequels &ndash including The Dark Knight Rises , Madagascar 3 , Ice Age 4 , G.I. Joe 2 , The Expendables 2 , American Pie: The Reunion , Men In (Read More)
