Thomas Mann Going From ‘Project X’ to ‘King Dork’

Though he went to great lengths to become cool in Project X, it looks like actor Thomas Mann is right back to being a dork. But that’s okay, because unlike Project X, his new endeavor, King Dork, actually sounds like it has a chance to be funny and entertaining. According to a report from Variety, King Dork was the first project that Gary Sanchez Productions bought when it was formed by Adam McKay and Will Ferrell back in 2006. Adapted from a Frank Portman novel of the same name, D.V. DeVincentis’ (High Fidelity) script tells the story of a couple of late 80s-era outsiders who bond over a love of classic rock and form a friendship that helps get them through high school. Mann is in talks to play the lead kid, and It’s Kind of a Funny Story star Keir Gilchrist his friend. Parks and Recreations’ Nick Offerman is in negotiations to play the Mann character’s stepdad and if everybody ends (Read More)

Thomas Mann Will Be King Dork

Project X star nabs new comedy Youd think hed still be grounded after the manic antics of party pic Project X , but it would appear that Thomas Manns parents are letting him out again for another high school film, as hes now in talks to take one of the leads in King Dork . The project, which High Fidelity s DV DeVincentis adapted from Frank Portmans 2006 novel, follows best pals Tom and Sam, who deal with their tough times at school by bonding over a shared love of classic rock n roll in 1987. If he signs a deal, Mann will play Tom (yet another film where he goes by his own first name? Its getting to be a habit), while Keir Gilchrist, who he worked with on Its Kind Of A Funny Story , is circling the role of Sam. In even better casting news, Ron Effing Swanson legend / 21 Jump Street scene-stealer Nick Offerman is considering the role of Toms stepfather. Matt Piedmont, wh (Read More)
