Description: A twisted, funny, high-octane adventure, director Matthew Vaughn brings KICK-ASS to the big screen. KICK-ASS tells the story of average teenager Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), a comic-book fanboy who decides to take his obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero. As any good superhero would, he chooses a new name -- Kick-Ass -- assembles a suit and mask to wear, and gets to work fighting crime. There's only one problem standing in his way: Kick-Ass has absolutely no superpowers. His life is forever changed as he inspires a subculture of copy cats, meets up with a pair of crazed vigilantes -- including an 11-year-old sword-wielding dynamo, Hit Girl (Chloe Moretz) and her father, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) -- and forges a friendship with another fledgling superhero, Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse). But thanks to the scheming of a local mob boss Frank D'Amico (Mark Strong), that new alliance will be put to the test.

Kick-Ass 2 director revealed

Kick-Ass 2 is set to go before the cameras at the end of the summer, and its director has been revealed... Mark Millar has been insistent for some time that a cinematic follow-up to Kick-Ass is on the way, and he also promised that an announcement was imminent about a director. Turns out that Deadline appears to have beaten him to it. The site has revealed that Kick-Ass 2 is likely to press ahead, with Universal in talks to push on with the franchise. The plan is to start production this August at the latest, and negotiations have begun regarding securing the return of Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. Given how packed Moretz's slate is in particular, it's unclear how much time she'd have to devote to a reprisal of her Hit-Girl role, but that's presumably being worked out now. The script for the movie this time around has been written by Jeff W (Read More)

Mark Millar and Matthew Vaughn adapting The Secret Service

Mark Millar releases the first issue of his latest genre-busting comic-book The Secret Service tomorrow, and he’s already planning to convert the series into a flick with Kick-Ass cohort Matthew Vaughn. Millar has penned the series, and the artwork is provided is Dave Watchmen Gibbons. The story (concocted by Millar and Vaughn, who gets a co-creator and co-plotter credit), sees a London rioter trained to become a superspy (Millar calls it “James Bond meets My Fair Lady”). So it’s safe to presume that The Secret Service will do for 007-types what Kick-Ass did for superheroes. Which sounds like a pretty mouthwatering prospect to us… The opening sequence of the first issue has been revealed online at The Hollywood Reporter, and it sees Mark Hamill rescued from a Swiss hideout, although the mission doesn’t go quite to plan. Let’s just say M probably wouldn’t approve. Check out a few panels (Read More)
