Dominic Cooper Joins Colin Farrell in Action Thriller DEAD MAN DOWN

After briefly flirting with the revenge thriller Motor City, actor Dominic Cooper is now set to join Colin Farrell and Noomi Rapace in the actioner Dead Man Down.  The revenge tale stars Farrell as a mobster’s hitman bent on revenge and Rapace as “a mysterious, scarred beauty” who has intimate knowledge of Farrell’s past.  Variety reports that Cooper is in talks to play a family man who works as Farrell’s partner. Niels Arden Oplev, who directed Rapace in the Swedish iteration of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, is onboard to helm the pic with Neal Moritz (Fast and Furious franchise) producing. Cooper earned notice for his starring turn in last year’s The Devil’s Double, and also appeared in Captain America: The First Avenger and My Week with Marilyn.  He’ll next be seen in the historical documentary Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, which opens this summer. Production on Dead Man Down begins later this month.

That's all familiar lore but, to his credit, director Simon Curtis lays out these separate ambitions and conflicting tensions with breezy dispatch in the early frames.

A dubious idea done in by Adrian Hodges's shallow script and Simon Curtis's clumsy direction.
