Rise of the Planet of the Apes was one of the biggest and best flick surprises of the year for me. Despite some godawful trailers, director Rupert Wyatt was able to provide a thrilling and personal story that put the apes (and WETA&#039s visual effects) in the foreground. Whispers of a sequel have danced through the internets since the film&#039s release, but in a recent interview with Fox head Tom Rothman, Collider was able to confirm its development and revealed their target release date. Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes sequel arriving next year?

The apes will rise in 2013, it seems, as Fox confirms that it’s looking to film its Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes sequel this year… Summer 2011 gave us a far better than usual collection of good blockbusters, with the likes of Thor , X-Men: First Class , Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 , Captain America and Fast Five all winning decent levels of acclaim. The real surprise, though, was Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes , a film that not too many of us were expecting a great deal of. Charlize Theron to Star in Sci-Fi AGENT 13, Directed by RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES’ Rupert Wyatt

Rupert Wyatt soared out of Summer 2011 on the wave of critical and commercial success surrounding Rise of the Planet of the Apes.  The director has spoken about where he wants to take the sequel, and he is locked in for at least one more installment.  I would be surprised if he has time to squeeze in another project before Fox wants to get the next Apes movie in production, but Wyatt is smart to set up a few options while his stock is so high.  One possibility is the spy thriller Londongrad with Michael Fassbender.  Variety adds another promising prospect in Agent 13.  Charlize Theron is on board to star in the sci-fi actioner, which is enough to attract such fine studio suitors as Sony, Warner Bros., Paramount, Universal, and Fox.  The details of T.S. The Awards: As it happened... Ah, spring. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and flocks of beautiful people are pitching up on the red carpet outside a swanky hotel in London.
