ORPHAN Director Jaume Collet-Serra in Talks to Helm HERE THERE BE MONSTERS Bradley Cooper Eyed for Lead

The period adventure pic Here There Be Monsters is one of those incredibly cool-sounding projects that has been lingering in development hell for years.  Robert Zemeckis was first eyeing the film as a return to live-action, then Brad Bird (The Incredibles) flirted with the pic once Zemeckis passed.  Now it appears that Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have decided to go with a lesser known director to take the helm: Jaume Collet-Serra.  The director was previously behind the horror feature Orphan and the Liam Neeson thriller Unknown, but he’s become quite popular as of late.  In addition to being attached to the live-action adaptation of Akira, Collet-Serra is also prepping a re-imaging of the Dracula story, Harker, with Russell Crowe. Hit the jump for more on Here There Be Monsters, including the possible casting of Bradley Cooper. First, a refresher: the story of Here There Be Mo (Read More)

Liam Neeson is Taking to the Skies for More 'Non-Stop' Ass-Kicking

Just last August we heard about a new mile high thriller from Dark Castle in the form of Non-Stop, a new project from a spec script written by John Richardson and Chris Roach with Never Back Down and Cry_Wolf director Jeff Wadlow attached to direct. At the time, the project was just beginning development, but now a big update comes from Variety who says that Taken and Unknown ass-kicker Liam Neeson has signed on to take the lead role in the flick following a worn-out air marshal who faces a threat while traveling on an international flight. If only he&#039d fight a pack of ravenous wolves on the flight, we&#039d be set. ››› Continue reading: Liam Neeson is Taking to the Skies for More &#039Non-Stop&#039 Ass-Kicking

Liam Neeson Can’t Stop Being a Badass in NON-STOP

He's been a Jedi master, a wilderness survivor and a man with a particular set of skills.  Now, Liam Neeson will put all (or at least some) of those skills to the test as he toplines the airplane thriller, Non-Stop.  Via Joel Silver's Dark Castle Entertainment, Non-Stop is a self-contained thrill ride that takes place on board an international flight. Neeson is in negotiations to play an aging air marshal who faces a threat during said flight, and probably eliminates it  swiftly and with extreme prejudice. Hit the jump for more on Non-Stop. Variety reported on Neeson's negotiations to join Non-Stop. When last we reported on the project, which was picked up by Warner Bros. as a spec script from first-time writers John Richardson and Chris Roach, it was to tell you that Non-Stop would be directed by Jeff Wadlow (Never Back Down). The picture will be financed and produced through Dark Cas (Read More)

Abandoned Concept Art from Live-Action AKIRA

While a live-action adaptation of the manga/anime Akira has been in the works for a few years, the film actually looked like it would finally come to fruition until Warner Bros. put a halt on production to further develop the script and lower the budget. Producers Jennifer Kiloran Davisson and Andrew Lazar, and director Jaume Collet-Serra (Unknown) are currently working to make those changes, but it's been a few months and we haven't heard much movement on the project. Garrett Hedlund was set as the lead and Kristen Stewart, Helena Bonham Carter, and Ken Watanabe were in various stages of negotiations before the studio had second thoughts. However, today some nifty concept artwork made its way online from a previous incarnation of the live-action adaptation. The storyboards are from when Ruairi Robinson was attached to the project and they give us an idea of what his version of Akira w (Read More)
