Director: Gilles Paquet-Brenner
Description: Recent engineering graduate Sam Walczak (Barton) travels to the middle of nowhere to supervise demolition of the mysterious Malestrazza building. However, Sam finds the building is not quite empty. The caretaker Mary (Unger) and her son Jimmy (Bright) are among the few straggler tenants left. Jimmy and Sam form a tenuous bond discovering the building's numerous, and potentially lethal, secrets. As Sam begins to unravel the clandestine details of the architect's life and his astonishing building, she is drawn into a dark and frightening reality which forces her to accept her own dark past and turn the tables before becoming its latest victim. Adapted by Paquet-Brenner from the best-selling French novel Les Emmeures by Serge Brussolo, Walled In is a chilling exploration of love, betrayal and how obsession begets madness. From his humble beginnings as a precocious honor student in a Paris Academy, to his tutelage in the dark arts of occult architecture, Malestrazza learns that many of the secrets upon which civilizations are built have been drenched in blood. When he is betrayed by his mentor and the woman he loves, his obsession to create the perfect structure leads him down a dark path where victims must be sacrificed in service of his grand vision.
