Plot: A priest finds his faith tested when he's assigned to investigate a possible case of divine intervention. Rev. Frank Shore (Ed Harris) is a Catholic priest who works as a postulator, a church official who investigates reports of holy miracles to determine their veracity. Some time back, one of Shore's investigations had ugly repercussions, and now he devotes his time to running a soup kitchen. But he's called back to service by Bishop Cahill (Charles Haid) when a number of Catholics begin calling for the canonization of the late Helen O'Regan, who is alleged to have performed miracles and whose statue is said to weep tears of blood. Shore begins digging into O'Regan's life and the miracles she is supposed to have performed; in his travels, he meets Maria (Caterina Scorsone), a teenage girl who was supposedly healed by O'Regan, and Roxane (Anne Heche), O'Regan's daughter, who was abandoned by her mother, wants nothing to do with her story, and has given up her belief in God. While investigating the miracle of O'Regan's statue, Shore witnesses the bleeding himself and tells the church that he believes the claims are legitimate. However, this view leads to angry reprisals from Archbishop Werner (Armin Mueller-Stahl); Shore's story is not given any greater credence when he become romantically involved with Roxanne. The Third Miracle was released only a few months after Stigmata, another story of Catholic priests investigating allegations of a modern-day miracle, not the sort of subject one might have expected to become a trend. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Great price, service and fast, Ummmm who is that "Other" service which I have used for shopping? Although it is always a good idea to compare prices, but Amazon Almost always comes out on top.

A stunning portrayal of a man of faith in crisis

and Ed Harris is spectacular. This is a powerful, thought-provoking film and Anne Heche, wacky though she may be, does a very fine job here, too.
A film to engender a good deal of conversation about belief and unbelief, about the nature and interpretation of miracles, about the ways in which we judge one another.

The Third Miracle Occurred
Added 8/25/2008

The Third Miracle did occur. The Third Miracle and beyond involved the priest tasting type A blood shed from the Statue of Mary. The blessed blood was subsequently 1) transferred by the priest's kiss and saved a girl's life for a second time, 2) the priest's kiss made a troubled woman stabilize her life and develop love for her child, 3) the priest's actions made an arrogant and nasty Catholic archbishop melt his hard ways [a personality that remained from his life as a German World War II soldier], and 4) the blood returned a priest from a life of drinking and depression to a lowly, but loving and devoted parish priest.

The performance by Ed Harris was equal to any Best Actor Oscar that has been awarded. Because of the performance of all of the actors and actresses, the treatment of the subject matter, the period-related costume designs, the vivid visual film production and the film's fine direction, this little recognized motion picture should have been an Academy Award nominee. With time, it will hopefully stand among the greatest of film history.

A Story About Finding Faith When All Seems Hopeless
Added 6/11/2008

It takes 3 miracles to "make" a person a saint. But what happens when the priest who is proposing a woman for sainthood has his own doubts of faith?

This energetically powerful film will take you into priest Frank Shore as he is challenged to not only accept the miracles as possible, but also to prove their validity to others who doubt them even more than he does.

Open your eyes, ears, and heart, otherwise you may not even notice
when the third miracle passes.
