In a working class neighborhood in New York, immigrant shopkeeper Joe Carmine (Leo Carrillo, The Cisco Kid and If You Could Only Cook) becomes the guardian to newly-orphaned Winnie (Edith Fellows, Pennies from Heaven and She Married Her Boss). Joe struggles to keep home and business afloat, while trying to find a doctor who can cure the condition that causes Winnie to be wheelchair-bound, with help from the neighbors, including Mrs. Devlin (Mary Gordon) and her son Tommy (Our Gang's Tommy Bond). The stresses of the situation soon press in on Joe and Winnie's little world. This sweet and sentimental film is perfect for the whole family; directed by veteran Columbia director Albert S. Rogell (Start Cheering). Newly remastered.
