Deadly Nightshade

Robert Matthews is arrested near his home in Cornwall, mistaken for John Barlow, an escaped convict. Superintendent Clements identifies him but is astounded by the physical similarities of the two men. Barlow reads of this wrongful arrest and decides to head for Matthews’ house with the intention of hiding him and assuming his identity in order to escape. All does not go according to plan, however, and Matthews puts up a struggle during which he is killed. Hiding the body, Barlow plays the part of Matthews, but when various other crimes come to light, it becomes clear that Matthews himself was not at all the man he seemed...
