Peter Falk teams up with the inimitable Charles Durning to pull off a gem of a jewel heist in John Avildsen s hilarious remake of the 1974 French caper film La Bonne Année. Slightly sleazy jewel thieves Nick (Falk) and Charlie (Durning) are going for the big score when they head to West Palm Beach to hit the exclusive Harry Winston's jewelry store. With Charlie playing the chauffeur in a hot Rolls-Royce and Nick masquerading alternately as a rich octogenarian and his sister, they set out to win the confidence of the greedy store manager (Tom Courtenay). It seems like the perfect setup until Nick meets the beautiful Carolyn (Wendy Hughes), who owns the antique shop next door. This outlandish outing features madcap comic timing and amazing special effects makeup that garnered an Academy Award® nomination.
