Lafayette Escadrille

‘Wings’ director William A. Wellman returns to his time as an aviator during the war for this paean to the American volunteers who flew with the French Air Force. Thad Walker (Tab Hunter) arrives in Paris after being thrown out of his wealthy father’s home, and signs up for the Lafayette Escadrille along with some other expatriates. Whilst his peers progress through training, Thad falls in love with a local girl and his priorities change. Later, when he reconnects with his battle-experienced friends and America joins the war effort, Thad is convinced to sign up, fly a mission with the squadron and become a hero.
