George Martin and Willie Stannard are two prisoners on their way to a West Country jail when they successfully escape. Martin is a hardened criminal, whilst Stannard is a simple-minded youth awaiting trial. The two are handcuffed together but still manage to journey aboard a train. Hiding in a wood, however, they are disturbed by a man out shooting. To Stannard’s horror, Martin kills him. The two separate, but the authorities are now anxious to arrest them for murder.
