Ever feel like the whole world is disappearing? Species by species, technology by technology everything you know and love is becoming obsolete. That's how George Ruben of Culver City, California feels, and that's why he's writing The Obselidia, an Encyclopedia of Obsolete Things. He wants to record it all, to catalogue the world before it's gone. OBSELIDIA, the motion picture, tells the story of George, a man out of step with the 21st century who is pathologically nostalgic for things that used to be and never will again. On his quest to catalogue critically endangered occupations, he meets Sophie, a cinema projectionist at a silent movie theater, and together they journey to the desert of Death Valley to interview a maverick scientist who is predicting the eminent end of the world. Part road movie, part love story, OBSELIDIA is a bittersweet meditation on loss and how we live with it - given that everything we love is going to end.
