At his court sentencing, archvillain Professor Moriarty (Ernest Torrence) states that everyone involved in his arrest will die before him. Meanwhile, master detective Sherlock Holmes (Clive Brook) retires to his fiancée's farm -- only to be summoned back to the city when the judge in Moriarty's case goes missing. While Moriarty joins with gangsters to continue his revenge, Holmes and his friend, Dr. Watson (Reginald Owen), counter each move and try to stay ahead of the evil professor.
