Song of Scheherazade

Starring Yvonne De Carlo, Song of Scheherazade is a captivating love story of an alluring dancer who inspires Russian composer Rimsky-Korsakov's most beloved masterpiece. Unusually calm seas strand a Russian naval sailing ship off the port of Morocco. While on shore, young midshipman and aspiring composer Nicholas Rimsky-Korsakov (Jean Pierre Aumont) meets the luminous Cara (De Carlo), a mysterious dancer whose poignant life reminds him of the fabled "Scheherazade," the tragic heroine of 1001 Arabian Nights . Nicholas' feelings for Cara inspire his most passionate work but their romance seems doomed when the navy forces Cara to remain in Morocco and bans Rimsky-Korsakov from composing any more music. Nicholas is painfully torn between devotion to his homeland, his music and his cherished Cara.
