With his master's death at the hands of King Mark and the Saracens, John (Alan Ladd) arrives in Camelot to ask King Arthur (Anthony Bushell) to allow him to train for the knighthood. Under the tutelage of Arthur's most gallant knight, the swordsmith hones his skills and, forging his own weapon and lightweight armor, sets out in search of adventure as the Black Knight. Having fallen in love with Lady Linet (Patricia Medina), John must first prove that he's worthy of marriage. So, with his honor at stake, he seeks to save Arthur's crown from the treachery of the Saracens and King Mark and win the hand of the woman he loves.
