The Spider and the Fly

Just before the First World War, a safe-cracking thief is baffling the Paris police. His burglaries are brilliantly planned down to the last detail, and one day Philippe, the thief, enlists the help of a beautiful young woman, Madeleine (Nadia Gray). Fernand (Eric Portman) is the chief of police who has respect for Philippe (Guy Rolfe) but is still determined to bring him to justice. Thus he seizes on the opportunity to arrest Madeleine. Both men fall in love with her, but it becomes clear to Fernand that she loves Philippe. The two are left to compete for love and freedom until the outbreak of war, at which point they are forced to unite.
