Third Time Lucky

When Joan Burns takes a taxi one night, she encounters far more than she expects. A man running away from a mob jumps in and, once he has lost them, races out again. She finds his wallet and chases him. As they meet, she discovers his name is Lucky and he is a gambler. She persuades him that she has been a lucky mascot for him so far, and he takes her gambling with him. They win and she moves in with him. She is in love, but as far as he is concerned it is strictly business. When his luck begins to wane, he must turn to Joan not only for money but for his life.
