In small town America, high-school football provides its players a possible ticket to a bigger world. For the community, it's a source of pride. Filmed in Canton, Ohio, UNDERDOGS focuses on the Knights, a lousy team who've become an easy target for jokes. When down on his luck Coach DeAntonio (D.B. Sweeney) arrives, he helps the lovable losers see their true potential, while a hometown bartender (Natalie Imbruglia) helps the coach reopen his guarded heart. When quarterback Bobby Burkett (Logan Huffman) falls in love with a cheerleader (Maddie Hasson) from a rival team, it enrages their star John Handon (Charlie Carver), who has his eye on the same girl. Meanwhile, Bobby's father (William Mapother) is battling Handon’s dad (Richard Portnow), whose crooked corporation is suing him over an invention he patented. Director Doug Dearth has created a heartwarming and rabble-rousing crowd pleaser, that's sure to have both young and old on their feet by it's exhilarating ending.
