Singing sensation Deanna Durbin portrays a young Irish immigrant in the screen adaptation of the popular Broadway musical comedy Up in Central Park . Set in New York during the 1870s, the promise of America fills the hearts of Rosie (Durbin) and her father, Timothy Moore (Albert Sharpe), as they cross through the gates of Ellis Island. It is not long before a crooked politician entices innocent Mr. Moore to become involved with the notorious racketeer Boss Tweed (Vincent Price). As Mr. Moore is awarded the post of caretaker of Central Park, daughter Rosie is also being lured into the clutches of charming Tweed. Filled with its compelling blend of story, song, dance, authentic costumes and plenty of laughs, this delightful musical showcases one of Hollywood’s most enduring leading ladies at her best.
