Having completed his tour of duty as Governor of a group of tropical islands, the Earl, accompanied by Bembridge his butler, returns to his ancestral home in England. While unpacking, the Earl discovers that the daughter of one of the tribal Kings has stowed away. She loves Bembridge and does not want to be separated from him. They must keep the story secret if they wish to avoid a diplomatic incident. Chaos ensues when a local newspaper reporter smells a scoop. Comedy and thrills ensue as the Earl and his trusty servant are forced to swap identities in order to get out of trouble.
