River City is a British television soap opera that was first broadcast on BBC One Scotland on 24 September 2002. River City follows the lives of the people who live and work in the fictional district of Shieldinch in Glasgow. The soap opera is shot on a staged set that includes a moderately sized street, interiors of a pub, a bistro, a café, various small businesses, a garage, a Glasgow Subway station, a community centre building and a basketball court as well as some patches of land inhabited by things such as small huts and boats.
