A Lion in the House is a 225-minute long 2006 American documentary film directed by Steven Bognar and Julia Reichert that candidly explores the impact of childhood cancer on five different families throughout the span of six years in Ohio. The documentary, which took eight total years to film and edit, follows the diverse lives of Justin Ashcraft, Al Fields, Alexandra Lougheed, Jen Moones, and Timothy Woods as they cope and receive cancer treatment from the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. The film premiered on January 2006 at the Sundance Festival and was broadcast on PBS in two segments from June 21 to June 22, 2006. Since then, it has earned numerous awards and has helped promote national awareness on pediatric cancer.
