Adolfo

An emotional yet optimistic drama that blurs the lines between the tragic, the absurd and the funny parts of life. Two strangers cross paths during the worst night of their lives in this story about coincidence and brief shared moments. Twenty-three-year old Hugo misses the last bus to his father’s funeral and is left stranded at the bus stop with nothing but his dad’s suicide note and a potted cactus in his hands. The cactus is Adolfo, the ugliest plant in the world. The note simply reads: “Find a new home for Adolfo”. As Hugo settles in for the night at the deserted bus terminal, he meets Momo, a young woman dressed as an aviator, standing on a skateboard with little cardboard wings. On her way to her friend’s costume party, Momo invites Hugo to come along. As the night unfolds, Hugo finds out that Momo is having an equally difficult time, battling to stay clean on her first night of freedom after a stint in rehab. To avoid being alone, Hugo and Momo set off on an adventure together, making a pact to fulfil Hugo’s father’s ridiculous last wish and find a home for Adolfo. It’s the perfect distraction to get them both through the night and forge a connection neither will ever forget.
