EAST JERUSALEM WEST JERUSALEM follows singer/songwriter David Broza, who is “frequently called the Israeli Bruce Springsteen” (Vanity Fair), in January 2013 as he begins an eight-day marathon recording session in the studio of Sabreen, the legendary Palestinian band. After enlisting the help of four-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter and American activist Steve Earle, the participants—including renowned Palestinian singer Mira Awad, Issa Freij, Palestinian hip hop artist Muhhamad Maghrabi, and Israeli musicians Jean Paul Zimbris, Alon Nadel and Gadi Seri—discover that the common language of music can unite even the most seemingly incompatible communities.
