Alonso Llosa’s first feature is a tragicomic take on class struggle and life in Lima, Peru, during the latest real estate boom. It's Latin American premiere is following its world premiere in Santa Barbara. 50 year old Tato, a charming but penniless college dropout, just moved back home. In a moment of misguided brilliance, he decides to sell his bedridden mother’s house behind her back. Now he must build a replica of his mother’s bedroom in order to create the illusion that she is still living in her old home. It’s a quirky, dark, and dare I say, corny comedy that is refreshing and reassuring at the same time.
