The attitude of zazen sitting meditation is really not for beginners: The right foot is on the left thigh, the spine is upright, your eyes are open only a small gap. In Antaji Zen monastery, however, the exercise is part of the daily routine and is soon done everyday for Sabine Timoteo. The Swiss ventured to the monastery in order to live there for six months and to learn, accompanied by the camera of their director Werner Penzel. Antaji is unlike most other Zen monasteries of Japan: The device is designed for both men and women to be open, as well as connected wirelessly and Abbot muho Nölke is originally from Berlin. Nölke and Zen Master Kodo Sawaki take the novice Timoteo under their wing and bring her closer to the Japanese monastic life to which they also belong to grow rice and vegetables to feed themselves.
