Miranda's competitive sister Shirley, a network news reporter, is coming to town to do a story on toons. Shirley would rather be working on a hard news story, and Miranda would rather Shirley didn't show up. Bonkers, seeing a chance to be on TV, tries to make nice with the minicam, but instead events lead to disasters. Shirley's fluff piece now becomes an investigative report: toons, threat or menace? Miranda is incensed, but Shirley states that Bonkers will have a chance to redeem himself. Bonkers' attempts to rectify the situation only lead to bigger calamities and he decides to leave the force. The next day, a fire breaks out in a nearby tenement and Miranda is on the scene; she becomes entrapped while trying to save a senior citizen. Shirley, frantic, realizing this is her sister, yells for help. Bonkers springs into action and saves the day. Shirley gets it all on tape and, much to Grating's dismay, airs the heroic rescue and vindicates bonkers.
