Morgan lacks self-confidence and wants to expand her social circle outside the "emo kids" at her Ohio high school. To do so, she wants to follow in the footsteps of her friend E.B. "an emo-turned-cheerleader." Morgan wants to be MADE into a cheerleader. When Morgan announces her cheerleader goals, her controlling parents are shocked, but supportive. They host a barbecue, where Morgan first meets her MADE coach, Miami University cheerleading captain, Julian. Julian immediately gives Morgan her first assignment: perfect a cheer in a few hours. E.B. comes over to help, but Julian is worried. The next day, he gets Morgan into cheer-mode by having her talk to cheerleaders, and then meet her MADE fitness coach, Lauren. Lauren gives Morgan a rough workout, and just when Morgan feels like giving up, Lauren reminds her that, "Success is in the journey," and Morgan pushes on. With her transformation underway, Julian decides Morgan must revamp her fashion. He gets two cheerleaders to accompany them to the mall and give Morgan style tips. But the short skirts and bright shirts only cause trouble with the emo kids who constantly harass her about the change. Morgan's parents decide her relationship with boyfriend Sam takes up too much time, so they force her to end things. Just when Morgan thinks things couldn't get worse, Julian calls to tell her he has pneumonia. Luckily, he arranged for fellow Miami University cheerleader Bethany to be her backup coach. Bethany works with Morgan and then gives her an assignment to get the cheerleaders to help her choreograph a welcome back cheer for Julian. The girls put together the cheer and invite Morgan to a cheerleader sleepover. It's the first day of tryouts and everyone is nervous for Morgan, but she's the most nervous of all and it shows. Her second day goes much better and Morgan's coaches and new friends are impressed with how much she's improved. On the third day, Morgan opens her letter with E.B. and finds out she made the Junior Varsity football and basketball squads. Even though Morgan lost some friends and a boyfriend, she is happy that she was MADE into a new peppy cheerleader.
