Sam is a book-toting "brainiac" in Ohio who wants to be MADE into a break dancer. When word gets around that Sam wants to break dance, the school's best b-boy, Saud, challenges her. Sam refuses to do any moves, so the crowd claps for Saud as Sam walks away. At home, Sam receives a note instructing her to go to Washington Square Park in New York City. This is where she meets her MADE coach, Dredel. Dredel has toured the country with his dance crew, The Dynamic Rockers. After putting Sam on the spot to breakdance in front of a crowd, Dredel knows that they have a lot of work to do to prepare Sam to compete in her school's Cardinal Day talent show in five weeks. Back at home in Ohio, Dredel appears everywhere, demanding that Sam practice break dancing. When Dredel makes Sam dance at the mall so that she can get used to dancing for strangers, she gives a lackluster performance, leaving the crowd and Dredel disappointed. Dredel leaves Ohio to battle in New York, so he tells Sam to put together a classical music band that will play while she dances in the talent show. Sam breaks out of her shy shell to ask her crush, Cody, to be the bass player. He agrees. After upsetting Dredel with a poor practice performance upon his return, Sam buckles down on her routine. Dredel makes her dance in front of some of Ohio's best break dancers. This time, Sam has fun and lets go. With the talent show 2 weeks away, Sam requests to battle in a break dancing competition. She doesn't win, but doesn't get "smoked and run over." Next -- a rematch with Saud. Sam doesn't hold back and actually wins her first battle. After Sam gets a b-girl makeover complete with cornrows, Dredel presents her with the finishing touch -- a jumpsuit with her b-girl name on it, "Rush." He refers to her as Rush because she's always rushing to class and going straight after the competition when battling. On the day of the talent show, Sam starts by playing the violin. She then runs off-stage and the curtains open, revealing her band. Sam returns to the stage to dance as the band plays. Her break dancing floors everybody. In reflection, Dredel tells Sam that he's proud to have taught someone who's come so far along. Sam says that her experience was a life lesson. She's been MADE.
