Katie is a theater geek who loves being on stage where she can become whatever she wants to be. Now Katie's ready to be MADE into a prom queen so that she can emerge from the shadow of her perfect twin sister and feel beautiful. At school, Katie meets her MADE coach, Shannon. Shannon is the former Miss Michigan. Katie and Shannon devise a plan to help Katie step out of the box and compete for prom queen in six weeks. Shannon introduces the chest of truth to Katie's schoolmates. They write their honest opinions of Katie's personality and put them in the chest. The results lead to Katie's first assignment: make a list of people she feels she's been guarded, gossipy or bossy with. The following morning, Katie thinks she's dreaming when she's awakened by a 'Ken doll.' That 'doll' is her MADE fitness coach, Kip. After an exhaustive workout, Katie and Shannon analyze the comments in chest of truth. Katie's next assignment is to improve how others view her by mingling with new people at lunchtime. Katie's busted when Shannon pays her a surprise visit and finds her sitting with existing friends, not new people. Katie breaks down into tears, complaining that she's not the kind to jump into new things. Shannon emphasizes that it's a necessary step to become prom queen. The next day Katie introduces herself to a new table of people and hands out cupcakes to promote herself. Her efforts pay off when she's nominated for prom queen. Her campaign video is not such a hit. People find it cheesy. To add to Katie's woes, her perfect sister finds a prom date, and the guy who Katie wants to go to prom with is unavailable. Katie's mood is boosted after supporters come to her campaign party, then a friend agrees to be her prom date. After she loses twenty pounds, a team of professional stylists prepare Katie for the prom. She looks fabulous. The moment comes when the prom queen is announced and -- it's not Katie. Katie is disappointed but is proud of her personal transformation. Katie's been MADE.
