Despite having very different social backgrounds, fourteen year boys Andrej "Tschick" Tschichatschow and Maik Klingenberg come together through their common role as outsiders and the painful feeling of boredom. Tschick is the son of Russian repatriates while Maik comes from a good family, but suffers from the alcoholism of his mother.
