Jewish, Jack-the-lad David seriously fancies smart, rich, Anglo-Saxon Carrie as soon as he first inadvertently offends her in a Boston bar. When they run into each other again, she still finds him appalling, but David sees potential and manages to change her mind. The couple soon figures out that breaking up is easy, but staying together is hard to do.
