After a devastating betrayal at the hands of their mysterious employer, gold thieves Soapy Marx (Alastair Sim) and Ferdy Fane (Bernard Lee) are captured by the police. They rot in prison for a decade, and, upon their release, Marx and Fane struggle to track down the man who betrayed them and the massive cache of gold they stole for him. Their paths converge with that of policeman Goodman (Wilfrid Lawson) at the creaky mansion of Col. Redmayne (Arthur Wontner), where nothing is at it seems.
