Masterfully capturing the realism of post WWII Italy, Academy Award-winning director Vittorio De Sica (Bicycle Thieves) depicts the lives of two boys entrenched in a world of poverty and violence. Hoping to escape the harsh reality of life on the streets of Rome, Giuseppe and Pasquale spend their days shining the shoes of American troops for tips.
