In old Vienna, Johann Strauss Junior wants to be a composer like his famous father. His father however feels his son has no talent and dissuades him from pursuing a musical career. Johann Junior's fiance, played by Jessie Mathews, also does not encourage his creative side and prefers him to work as a baker. Enter Countess Helga von Stahl, who recognizes the younger Strauss' talent, and helps hatch a scheme to get his Blue Danube heard by the public. However, Strauss' girl thinks there is something romantic going Johann and the Countess, and Johann Senior thinks his son is trying to embarrass him.
