The High Commissioner

Scobie, an Australian detective, is sent to London to arrest a High Commissioner, on a charge of murdering his first wife 25 years previously. Although the Commissioner admits his guilt, Scobie senses that there is actually more to the case. Someone is attempting to kill the Commissioner and Scobie finds himself increasingly involved with him as he attempts to find out who it is. Is it his glamorous wife, his attractive secretary, or a mysterious foreign woman who is evidently his close friend? Scobie finds himself increasingly attracted to one of the women and as the situation becomes more grave, will he be able to save those he cares for?
