After suffering a series of mysterious anxiety attacks, New Jersey suburbanite and "waste management consultant" Tony Soprano agrees to see a psychiatrist, Dr. Jennifer Melfi. Gradually opening up to the doctor, Tony explains how his attacks began after a family of ducks, who had been living in his swimming pool, flew away. He also starts giving details about his life as a "family man" with a slew of problems at home and at work. Where to begin? Tony's wife Carmela and daughter Meadow aren't getting along. Son Anthony Jr. is in the dark about his dad's true profession. Volatile Uncle Junior wants to whack an enemy, Little Pussy, in the restaurant owned by Tony's good friend Artie Bucco—a plan sure to ruin Artie's business. Tony's nephew Christopher is embarrassing the family with his heavy-handed tactics. And last but not least, Tony's mother Livia is giving him a serious guilt trip for trying to move her to a posh "retirement community."
