A musician is blessed with four musical prodigies, all girls, and cursed when a troubled young composer enters the lives of his Four Daughters.
Adam Lemp (Claude Rains—Casablanca, Now Voyager, Lawrence of Arabia) already has enough trouble when all four young women—Ann, Thea, Kay and Emma (real-life sisters Priscilla Lane, Lola Lane, Rosemary Lane and Gale Page)—fall for Felix Deitz (Jeffrey Lynn). But when struggling composer Mickey Borden (John Garfield—Humoresque) moves into the house as a boarder, he draws the attentions of Ann into a relationship that can only lead to heartbreak.
The film is the first in a trilogy of Four movies that includes Four Wives and Four Mothers. Based on the novel Sister Act by Fannie Hurst.
