This sound remake of the silent classic focuses on the mad Emperor Rudolf (Harry Baur) whose persecution of the Jews causes the clay monster, the Golem, to reanimate and punish the oppressors. This picture boasts an indoor jousting tournament, and an authentic replica of the famous synagogue in Prague where much of the action occurs. When the Golem appears, he creates a movie climax that is both moving and magnificent. In the French language, with English subtitles.
